Keep Calm And Carry On

Why has this become such a popular slogan, finding its way on to all sorts of merchandise, and a sure sign it's reached popular consciousness, being adapted and bowdlerised is all sorts of ways.

Its origins as a morale building poster have been long superseded, but there is something about its direct, understated  simplicity that obviously resonates today, and with every generation judging by where and by whom you see it being displayed.

In no order of importance or significance we’ve captured issues that we all have to deal with, either directly or indirectly, economically or morally.

  • There are people in the world who want to kill us. The current terrorism threat is Severe; This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely. Home office quote
  • The economy is in trouble, we might be heading towards a double dip recession
  • Spending cuts will affect peoples’ jobs and standard of living; we are in for a long period of austerity
  • We are going to have to work longer for less pension
  • We are creating a ‘lost generation’ of young adults
  • Global warming is going to increase the number of natural disasters
  • We are killing the planet, consuming at an unsustainable rate
  • A lot of what we consume is made in ways that are cruel, immoral or exploitative
  • There is still too much injustice, ageism, sexism and racism in the world

If you are still reading and haven’t run for your exit of choice, what is the best response?

Keep Calm and Carry on.  It might explain why it’s so popular.

Predaptive can offer no solutions to the above, but as a tiny consolation we do provide some of the most effective organisational solutions available.
